Representative of CDPPP participated in the International Conference on Financing Transport Infrastructure in the Western Balkans and Southeast Europe

International Conference on Financing Transport Infrastructure in the Western Balkans and Southeast Europe was held on 24th and 25th of October 2012 in Dubrovnik, Croatia. The conference was attended by more than 150 participants from public and private sector, as well as different financial institutions from countries of the region and Europe in general.

 

Ms. Nora Bakalli legal advisor in the PPP Central Department presented Republic of Kosovo’s experience in PPP’s field. First an overview of Kosovo’s legal framework was given, emphasizing the recent amendments to the PPP Law, with the objective of providing a clearer regulatory framework and better clarification of the procedures for implementing Public Private Partnerships. With the new PPP Law, Kosovo has approximated its legal framework in accordance with the standards and policies of the European Union.

 

In this Conference Kosovo presented as well the Prishtina International Airport PPP project, which it the first PPP transaction in the country with a strategic, economic and social importance for the development of the country. Furthermore, a specific attention was paid to the pipeline of infrastructure projects that Kosovo intends to implement in the near future.
