The ceremony of transfer of Pristina International Airport - Adem Jashari in Kosovo to Limak International Airport JSC

 

 

On April 4, 2011, with an official ceremony, the transfer of Prishtina International Airport - Adem Jashari to the private partner, the Turkish - French consortium, Limak - Aeroports de Lyon, respectively Limak International Airport JSC Kosovo, took place.

 

The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister of Kosovo, z.Thaçi, Turkey's Ambassador Ms. Ozan, Ambassador of France Mr. Fitou, Mr. Ozdemir, President of the Limak Group, Ms. Azza El Abd from USAID, and other senior officials of the Government.

 

In his speech, Prime Minister among others said:

 

"Through the Public-Private Partnership for Pristina Airport, Kosovo will have a world-class airport, operated at much higher levels of quality, contributing with revenue to the public budget.

 

Today's transfer is not an end in itself nor the end of our cooperation with the private partner, but is the beginning of a long-term contractual relationship.

 

Soon, we will start with the application of Public-Private Partnerships in the construction and operation of roads and highways, hospitals, schools, kindergardens, parking lots, parks, public buildings, urban transportation, and similar."

 

In the end, the ceremony of signing of the transfer documents took place. The documents were signed by the Minister of Finance, Mr. Hamza, Chairman of the Board of Directors of PIA - Adem Jashari, Mr. Jashari, Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Gjonbalaj, and representative of the private partner Mr. Genc.
