Construction works start in Prishtina International Airport - Adem Jashari.

 

 

In the area where the new section of PIA - Adem Jashari will be located, with an official ceremony, construction works have commenced. At the ceremony were present the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Ms. Jahjaga, Prime Minister Thaçi, Cabinet members, ambassadors and many other distinguished guests.

From July 11, 2011, when work began in Prishtina International Airport - Adem Jashari by the private partner, Turkish-French consortium, Limak - Aeroport de Lyon is expected to construct, among others:

·         New terminal with more than 29,000 m2

·         New tower for air traffic, along with an administrative facility for the Air Navigation Service

·         New Parking with 1750 places

·         New platform for aircraft parking

·         New Areas  for taxis and buses, and

·         Plant for wastewater treatment

These constitute the largest private investment in Kosovo after the war, reaching a value above 100 million EURO.

This major project is one of the most successful models of Public-Private Partnerships in the region, which is being used as a base of knowledge for implementation of many other infrastructure projects in Kosovo.

Through this method, it is expected to activate significant potential that Kosovo has, to help economic development, and specifically to show that Kosovo is a safe and attractive environment for private capital.
